New car sales in Puerto Rico for the month of October 2022 totaled 11,174 units. This represents a 20.4% increase in market sales when compared to October 2021 (9,281 units). This also represents a 38.3% increase compared to September 2022 (8,076 units). This is the second month of the year with the largest number of new car unit sales. This is also a record sale for the month of October in over a decade. This increase is due to slow sales in September 2022 due to hurricane Fiona.
By market by the country for the month of October:
- Japanese brands increased sales by 3.94% compared to October 2021. Toyota leading with a 66% increase in sales. Mitsubishi, Honda, Mazda, Acura, and Nissan with decrease in sales. Lexus had a 4.6% increase.
- Korean brands increased by 59.4% in sales compared to October 2021. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis reporting increase in sales.
- US brands increased by 3.2% in sales with GM leading the sales.
- European brands increased by 42.7% in sales compared to October 2021.
